MATT'S MAKER SPACE PROGRAMMING
A Year of Making @ the Mt. Lebanon Library is a joint project between Matt’s Maker Space and the Mt. Lebanon Public Library. The project, started in January of 2018, has been quite a success. THrough a donation from Matt’s Maker Space, the library has been able to bring in maker and STEAM focused programming each month to serve a wide variety of children from ages preschool up to high school. Programming included activities from the Carnegie Science Center, the Heinz History Center, the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh, Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild, and the Center for the Arts. A calendar of events was distributed at the kick off in January. Classes were provided for free to the public and required registration. Many of the classes closed almost as soon as they were opened! It was a great success. Children enjoyed many of the classes. One particular program that everyone enjoyed was learning how to make pinhole cameras and develop the film at the Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild.
A year of Making 2019 kicks off on January 22, 2019 at the library.
