Pittsburgh Arlington Pre-K - 8
with STEM Coding Lab
2024
Matt's Maker Space has chosen to partner with STEM Coding Lab on this maker space in the Pittsburgh Public School District, This neighborhood K-8 school is located in Pittsburgh's Arlington community. They are relentless in their pursuit of racial equity. SCL is already onsite at this school, teaching computer programming to the over 300 students. They have been offered classrooms, which we would like to turn into Matt's Maker Space/SCL spaces. We outfitted this space with the latest state-of-the-art STEAM equipment such as 3D printers and laser cutters. We are also providing the training for the teachers so that these spaces will be used by the entire school.
Activities
This space will be a place where students can meet with their SCL teachers. Computer science and coding will be taught in these spaces, along with STEAM curriculum that will be offered through Matt's Maker Space training for the teachers. Activities might include building with Lego, robotics, science experiments, 3D printing, sewing, building with cardboard and learning the Engineering Design Process.
