Jefferson Middle School’s Matt’s Maker Space in Mt. Lebanon includes a large tech lab along with a smaller space with soft fabrication tools. The large lab includes 3D printers, a laser cutter, wood working machinery, and robotics, while the smaller lab includes a Cricut, an embroidery machine, and sewing machines. One of the unique features of their lab is a hydroponic system which will be used for study of plants. They designed the space to be flexible, with moveable tools and furnishings, to create various configurations for groups and individual work.

While Covid-19 has kept the Maker Space from functioning at full capacity, students have still been able to design 3D models for printing from their homes, have learned about graphic design by creating and printing stickers and iron-ons, and sewed masks.
