Lincoln Elementary

The Lincoln Elementary Matt’s Makerspace has been a buzz with activity this fall! Students in every grade level have visited and enjoyed a variety of exciting maker activities!

  • Kindergarten students partnered with their Fifth Grade buddies to build a bridge for the Gingerbread Man!

  • First Graders used their imagination to create a “not a box” in response to Antoinette Portis’s book.

  • Second graders applied their new knowledge of various communities to construct urban, suburban or rural landscapes and also designed and built their own monsters or witches inspired by Julia

  • Donaldson’s story books.

  • In response to their science unit, Third Graders designed and constructed spacecrafts for one unit and bridges for another.

  • Fourth Graders designed their own robots.

  • Fifth Graders enjoyed a STEAM challenge Turkey Race and used stop-motion to bring to life their reflections on Peter Brown’s novel The Wild Robot.

We can’t wait to see what the second semester will bring to our Matt’s Makerspace! Students will begin their coding lessons using and the Puzzlet games and Sphero and Blue Bot robots.
